Login Widget and reCaptcha support in Profile Builder

Even though there have been quite a lot of updates in the last few weeks, it’s been quite a while since there was a post about them; so this article will describe all the changes up to version 1.1.50 of Profile Builder.

The Login Widget

Since users always requested a more versatile login form, which they could add in the widget area – even though there was the possibility to add the login shortcode in a text-widget -, we added a new “feature”, a login widget, entitled Profile Builder Login Widget

Once added in the sidebar, the widget has a control panel, which you can customize accordingly:

Title – It’s the title that will appear on the widget area, delimiting the login form.

After login redirect URL – Optional. Setting this will let you over-ride the redirect URL from the Custom Redirects settings page. Don’t worry though, they are 2 completely different things, so depending on where the user logs in, they can be redirected to different places. If this is left blank, they will be redirected to the same page they were before logging in.

Register page URL – Optional. In case you have set up a registration page, you can insert the URL of it here. Doing so, a new section will appear right after the login form, indicating that unregistered users can create an account.

Password Recovery page URL – Optional. In case you have set up a password recovery page, you can insert the URL of it here. Doing so, a new section will appear right after the login form, indicating that users who have forgotten their password, can restore it there.

reCAPTCHA addon

So what else did we add so far? Well, besides the constant warnings and notices we had to fix, we also made sure that admins that wanted to add a reCAPTCHA form on their custom registration page wouldn’t have to code too much. So instead of a custom plugin, we added this as part of Profile Builder, and can be (de)activated in the Addons settings page.

Once the reCAPTCHA is activated, a new tab will appear in the plugins menu, just like with the rest of the addons. In this new settings page, you can insert the Public and Private Keys obtained after creating an account on http://www.google.com/recaptcha.

What more? Check out Profile Builder PRO

Profile Builder Pro brings to the table requested features like:

  • Create Extra User Fields (Heading, Input, Checkbox, Agree To Terms Checkbox, Radio Buttons, Selects, Country Selects, Timezone Selects, DatePicker, Textareas, Upload Fields, Avatar Upload )
  • Add avatar upload for users
  • Fully Customizable User-Listing (via the addons feature)

I don’t see a feature setting to require admin approval for all user registrations. It appears that all registrations automatically subscribe the user with granted access?

    Keith,

did you activate the Admin Approval feature from the General Settings tab from within Profile Builder?
